Vesselina Kasarova became an honorary member of the cast of the Sofia Opera and Ballet. The news was announced during the concert with which our famous singer celebrated her 35-year career, BTA reported.
Yesterday Kasarova performed a solo concert accompanied by the orchestra of the Sofia Opera under the baton of Rossen Gergov. In it she presented arias that marked her career – Azucena from Verdi's "Il Trovatore", Delilah from Saint-Saëns' "Samson et Dalila", Carmen from Bizet's opera of the same name, Santuza from Mascagni's "Cavalleria rusticana".
"I love Bulgaria very much and I thank all of you because you love the Bulgarian," Kasarova said. She sang "Kalimanka Denko" in gratitude. The song is included in an album of songs arranged for the mezzo-soprano's voice by the great Bulgarian composer Krasimir Kyurkchiyski.
