"The Great Gatsby" – Leo Mujić's magnificent ballet production – will immerse the spectators in the elegant era of the 1920s and 1930s on 15 and 17 September. "The Great Gatsby" will evoke the audience's enthusiasm with its impressive choreography and the Sofia Opera Ballet's brilliant interpretation. Over 7,000 spectators attended the seven opening nights last season.
In the main roles in both performances, we will see Frederico Pinto, Marta Petkova, Nikola Hadjitanev, Tsetso Ivanov, Katerina Petrova, Pamela Pandova, as well as soloists and the ensemble of the National Ballet. In the role of Nick we will have the star of the Croatian National Theatre Zagreb, premier soloist Takuya Sumitomo. In the role of Wolfsheim you will see a soloist from the Croatian National Theatre Split Ballet – Takafumi Tamagawa.
Internationally acclaimed choreographer Leo Mujić is staging "The Great Gatsby" on the Sofia stage, following the huge success of the production at the Slovenian National Opera Theatre in Ljubljana in 2019. He selected the music himself, which includes compositions by American composers George Gershwin, Samuel Barber, Benny Goodman, Leonard Bernstein, Philip Glass, Glenn Miller and George Whitefield Chadwick.
