Sofia Opera presents "Die Zauberflöte" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. There are six performances and the conductor-producer is Svetoslav Borisov.
"Die Zauberflöte" is related to Freemasonry. In our production, director Vera Petrova has proposed a more fairy-tale story about a magical family that we are all part of. The idea is how we try to lead and initiate a new member - there are elements of Freemasonry involved, the symbols. There is a battle between the earthly and the spiritual, everyone can make their choice of what to be part of," said Silvia Teneva in the studio of "Bulgaria in the Morning".
She embodies the character of Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night. It is a challenge and a pleasure for her to work on the staging.
"Talking about Mozart's music – it's a lovely, tender, lyrical part. It takes very high skill to be able to perform it. I am very happy to have the opportunity to perform it," Teneva said.
Speaking to Bulgaria ON AIR, Atanas Mladenov, whom we will see in the role of Papageno, added that there are melodies that "fit like a glove" to a person's mood.
"I'm pretty close with the guy I have to recreate. There are always difficulties in building the image. We're like different floors of a whole person. Mine is the ordinary guy who is excited about the domestic things – getting a good night's sleep, having a meal, finding a nice wife," Mladenov said.
"Die Zauberflöte" can be seen on the stage of the Sofia Opera and Ballet on 14, 15, 16, 17 March, as well as on 29 and 30 March.
