The Sofia Opera, in the time of spiritual trials, is mobilizing for a complicated creative task. Till the first presentation on Bulgarian stage of the opera “Elektra” – saturated with dynamics, turns and high music fragments – remains just one day.
“In March we stopped, then there was an opening and we started with enthusiasm. We reached at the end today to the dates for the premieres on 26 and 29 November. There were a lot of challenges”, said for “Bulgaria in the Morning” the assistant director of “Elektra” and stage director at the Sofia Opera – Vera Petrova.
After her words, the music language was exceptionally saturated.
“We managed for the premiere at a high and worthy level. It is complicated, because it is a matter of allegory, of metaphor”, added she.
Presented are three archetypes: the choice to destruct yourself, of love and solitude and to believe only in the material.
“Plamen Kartaloff has a very specific style and every one of us passed through complex catharsis moments.
The characters are developed exceptionally distinctly. With a dropper is counted every emotion, every gesture”, added she for Bulgaria ON AIR.
The first presentation of the opera “Elektra” by Richard Strauss was on 25 January 1909 at the Royal Opera House in Dresden.
