On the 7^th, 8^th, 9^th and 10^th of November, the Sofia Opera and Ballet will present the premiere of the ballet “Romeo and Juliet”: the most famous love story in traditional English literature. Shakespeare has always created beautiful, spiritual and strong in spirit characters. He freely expresses the human personality in spite of society’s opinion and the main ruling prejudices of the time.  

For decades after its inception, William Shakespeare’s work inspired many different composers. One of the most famous pieces inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet is Sergei Prokofiev’s score for the ballet of the same name: a musical masterpiece which fully reveals the character’s inner world and unfolds the complete palette of the storyline.

Ballet choreography was helmed by Kaloyan Boyadzhiev. The production recreates this classic piece in our modern times along with an easy to comprehend new vision and aesthetic which will touch the heart of the contemporary audience.
