After tickets for the performances of “The Nutcracker” on the 4th and 5th of January were completely sold out, the Sofia Opera and Ballet starts off 2025 with the cult production of Giacomo Puccini’s timeless masterpiece: “Turandot”.
On the 10th of January, we will witness Alexandrina Pendachanska’s debut in the role of the mysterious Chinese princess Turandot and on the 11th of January we will see Gabriela Georgieva in the same role.
Both singers will pose their riddles to Jorge de Leon in the role of Prince Kalaf. The tenor returns to Sofia after performing in the impressive performances under the conductorship of Daniel Oren with which our national theater opened the new season in September.
Plamen Kartaloff’s production deservedly enjoys the highest praise and unending applause both by the audience in Bulgaria and the one at international stages and festivals.
We will see another debut on the 10th of January: Stanislava Momekova will take on the role of Liu, the slave.
