Sofia Opera and Ballet presents the musical poem "The Hermit of Rila"

The Sofia Opera and Ballet will present "The Hermit of Rila" – a musical poem about the life and work of the heavenly protector of Bulgaria.

"By the decision of the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, these performances are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the consecration of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral". The heart of Sofia is this temple-monument, the heart of Bulgaria is located in the Rila Holy Monastery, where the relics of our saint John of Rila the Wonderworker rest in the temple," said Father Kiril Popov in the studio of "Balgaria Sutrin".

The poem "The Hermit of Rila" was written by Tihomir Pavlov in 1937. A few months later he passed away from this world.

"This poem is actually a prayer. In the Orthodox worship we have God's glorification through prayers, readings, chants, and all of us as one big family are inspired by the spiritual feat of our Reverend Father John of Rila the Wonderworker," Father Kiril said on the air of Bulgaria ON AIR.
