The performances of “The Nutcracker” by P.I. Tchaikovsky enjoy a huge success and lots of applause. Boryana Petrova, Katerina Petrova, Marta Petkova, Emil Yordanov, Tsetso Ivanov and Nikola Hadzhitanev performed their roles brilliantly while wonderfully partnering with Frederico Pinto, Bogomil Menchise, Tomas Ferreira, Rumen Bonev, Sofia Opera lead singers and the Sofia Opera corps de ballet.
The performances continue in the beginning of 2025, with two morning and two evening performances slated for the 4th and the 5th of January. Along with national ballet dancers Christina Tchocanova, Nikola Hadzhitanev, Frederico Pinto and Teodor Vodenicharov, So Yeon Hong and Jong Woo Mun, laureates of the Second international ballet contest “Sara-Nora Prima”, will take on the roles of Mary and the Nutcracker prince respectively.
As bearer of the first prize from the “Sara-Nora Prima” contest in Burgas, 2024, So Yeon Hong also received an award for having taken part in a Sofia Opera ballet performance. Along with this award, So Yeon also won third place at the Dong-A dance contest in 2023 and a silver medal from the International dance contest “Star of Canaan”, in 2016.
Jong Woo Mun, bearer of the Grand prize from the ballet contest “Sara-Nora Prima” in Burgas, 2024, also received an award for having participated in a Sofia Opera ballet performance. He has won the first prize in a series of prestigious contests and was a finalist at the famous contest Lozana’s Prize” in 2022.
