Sofia Opera invites the children on an exciting journey with Little Red Riding Hood, Winnie-the-Pooh, The Three Little Pigs, The Wolf, Princess Anastasia and Papageno.
For the 14th year, the "Opera in the Park" Festival will start on 24 June in the park of the G.S. Rakovski Academy of Defence with "Concert for Babies". The Sofia Opera continues its mission to engage the youngest audiences in the world of art.
With great enthusiasm the young artists play for the children all summer long. Unforgettable are the meetings with the favourite fairy tale characters Little Red Riding Hood, Winnie-the-Pooh, The Three Little Pigs, The Wolf, Papageno and Papagena, Princess Anastasia and many others.
"Shegobishko on the Island of Miracles" is a wise tale about friendship and the extraordinary adventures of an inquisitive, travel-loving child.
The diverse poster of children's operas and concerts for babies gives children and their parents the opportunity to perceive the stage messages in a new creative, unconventional and modern way.
The precise programming of the festival poster demonstrates the taste and variety of the spectacles, which feature virtuoso singers and instrumentalists. The poster includes performances that allow direct contact with the children and in the natural environment of the park they have a different experience.

The children's programme of the Sofia Opera was created 15 years ago by the idea of the director Acad. Plamen Kartaloff.
"In order to have interest, the audience must be created from a very early age. The spectacles we do every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on our small stage are for children. They come to them, grow up and then go to the main hall. This is the point of our children's programme – to create an audience that relates to the art of opera," says Acad. Plamen Kartaloff.

"The value of the art of opera must be realized, it ennobles. I have witnessed when people who have no relation to the genre and to opera suddenly become beautiful and noble. Their faces become wonderful when you touch them and they become part of this art called "magic." That's why we try to constantly create new and new spectacles at the Sofia Opera, so that we can maintain lasting interest. That is why we take care of our youngest spectators", says the maestro.
