One week before the premiere of Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte", a press conference was held at the Sofia Opera and Ballet.
The conductor Svetoslav Borisov briefly introduced the journalists with his idea for the interpretation of Mozart's opera, and the director Vera Petrova outlined the main lines of her concept, which takes us to the 1920s and represents "theatre in the theatre".
The meeting with the journalists was attended by Molly O'Cathain – set designer, Simon Bennison – lighting designer, Marta Mironska – costume designer, Riolina Topalova – choreographer, as well as the majority of the soloists, which includes singers from Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Poland and Bulgaria. All of them shared their joy and excitement to participate in the performances of "Die Zauberflöte" on the stage of the Sofia Opera, as well as their admiration for the work with Vera Petrova and the entire production team.
"Die Zauberflöte" returns in the playbill of the Sofia Opera after a long absence, so the eagerness to see the stage interpretation of Vera Petrova and her international team is huge.
We wish Mozart's immortal work good luck on our stage!
