Two days (29.10) before the final Gala Concert of the LET'S SING finalists at the Sofia Opera and Ballet a press conference dedicated to the participants in the program took place. It was attended by journalists from the Bulgarian media and the artists Ludĕk Golat and Oliver von Dohnányi. Golat is a director from the Czech Republic who is an old friend of the Sofia Opera. In 2010 he staged Janáček's "The Cunning Little Vixen" on the Small stage. Oliver von Dohnányi is a Golden Mask Laureate who conducted our Opera productions of "Tosca", "Turandot" and "Macbeth" with the participation of Alexandrina Pendatchanska and Kiril Manolov.
Ambra Sorrentino, artisitic director of the competition, was also at the press conference.
Ludĕk Golat invited everyone to listen and watch the closing concert, which will present the best young performers from Europe, Iran, Korea, Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, Belarus, Greece and other countries. From Bulgaria participate Deyan Kostadinov, Teodora Marcheva, Denis Boyadzhiev. They all said that this LET'S SING competition programme is much needed and the directors, in the person of Ludĕk Golat, Oliver von Dohnányi and Ambra Sorrentino are delicate, attentive and encourage the best in the performers. Deyan Kostadinov pointed out that the work with the young is a helping hand given in time. Annie Fassea from Greece will perform "Lucia’s aria" by Gaetano Donizetti. She admitted that Donizetti wrote about 75 operas, but the most suitable aria was chosen for her voice – that of Lucia de Lammermoor. Francesco Toscano from Italy was also enthusiastic, who defined this meeting of the best young operatic voices. He stressed that now is the time to give way to the new, young performers. Often, he determined, modern singing is tolerated, but classical opera singing must now be guarded lest it be lost and disappear over the years.
The participants in LET'S SING thanked the Sofia Opera, Academician Plamen Kartaloff, Director of the Opera, the Orchestra of the Opera for the warm welcome, for the hospitality, for the kindness that emanates from the people who work in this institute and for their willingness to help them in their development. Because it is very important, admitted Jan Kukal from the Czech Republic, that to rehearse in such a creative environment as the Opera is a whole happiness.
Ludĕk Golat, Oliver von Dohnányi, Ambra Sorrentino and the 19 participants in the closing concert, invited everyone to attend their concert on 29.10 at 19 h. This will actually be the performance of the talented young people supported by Bulgaria.
