The Sofia Opera and Ballet adds a new title to its repertoire
On the 29th of November, the premiere of the opera “Adriana Lecouvreur” will take place at the Sofia Opera and Ballet: an opera about love, jealousy and the consequences thereof, based on real events which happened in France during the 18th century.
Acad. Plamen Kartaloff, director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet, shared in front of “Show Business” magazine that the opera season has had a very dynamic start and that the action continues with this upcoming premiere. He commented that the production is dedicated to opera artists Raina Kabaivanska and Alexandrina Milcheva who performed in “Adriana Lecouvreur” years ago.
Yuliya Krasteva directed the opera and shared that the piece has a very nice Italian tune to it.
Kartaloff added that another premiere will take place soon: the musical fairytale “The Green Bird”. He pointed out that the Wagner festival will be coming soon. It is being held for yet another year and will attract an international audience. The director said that “Der Ring des Nibelungen” will be performed on the Sofia Opera and Ballet stage along with others of Wagner’s works.
