Plamen Kartaloff’s wonderful production of “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini was perfectly performed twice under the conductorship of the world-famous maestro Daniel Oren. On the 27th and 29th of September, the Sofia Opera solemnly opened its new season of 2024/2025 with a full hall and an ecstatic audience.
In the two performances starred Anna Pirozzi as Turandot, Jorge de Leon as Prince Kalaf, Rosa Feola as Liu, Svetozar Rangelov as Timur, Daniel Ostretsov, Angel Antonov, Atanas Mladenov, Emil Pavlov, Veselin Mihaylov, a children’s formation led by Dimitar Kostantsaliev (orchestra and choir) / choir conductor: Violeta Dimitrova /. Raina Kabaivanska watched the second performance: she is currently conducting a master class at the Sofia Opera. She passionately applauded the artists, conductor Daniel Oren, director Plamen Kartaloff, the choir and the orchestra.
