Frederico Pinto is the new premiere lead ballet dancer in the new production of the “Romeo and Juliet” ballet by Sergei Prokofiev

Frederico Pinto, the new premiere lead ballet dancer of the Sofia Opera ballet troupe will perform two roles in the new production of the “Romeo and Juliet” ballet by Sergei Prokofiev.

Frederico will portray Romeo and Tibalt: one man from the Montague house and the other, from the Capulet house. Frederico is born in Portugal. He arrived to Bulgaria in 2018 and a year later he had already become a part of the Sofia Opera ballet troupe, performing lead roles.

The audience has seen Pinto perform in “Zorba the Greek”, “Ana Karenina”, “The Sleeping Beauty”, “Swan Lake” and “Don Quixote”. During the last season, Frederico performed brilliantly as Jay Gatsby in Leo Mujic’s production of “The Great Gatsby”.

The premiere performances of “Romeo and Juliet” will take place on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th of November. Choreographer and director: Kaloyan Boyadzhiev. Conductors: Andrei Galanov and Igor Bogdanov.
