On the 4th and 6th of October, the hero born by Nikos Kazantzakis’ pen will come to life, untouched by time, in the “Zorba the Greek” ballet.
Performing in the two showings are Frederico Pinto and Nikola Hadjitanev as Zorba, Tsetso Ivanov and Emil Yordanov as John; Marta Petkova and Katerina Petrova portraying Marina; Vincenco Karuana and Georgi Banchev as Manolios and Marina Marinova and Charlotte Berard as madam Ortans. Also performing is the Sofia Opera corps de ballet with tutors Yassen Valchanov, Masha Ilieva, Trifon Mitev, Ivanka Kassabova and Georgi Asparuhov.
The mix of classic, folk and modern dancing in Lorca Massine’s choreography and the combination of symphonic and traditional Greek music in Mikis Theodorakis’ score offer a spectacle of incredible force, life and a deep philosophical meaning.
