Sofia Opera and Ballet's furore with the premiere of Richard Wagner's “Die Walküre” on the stage of the National Opera and Ballet in Skopje under the direction of Acad. Plamen Kartaloff and with the participation of the soloists, ballet and orchestra of our opera. The event took place last night within the framework of the May opera evenings.
Special guest at the premiere was also the newly elected President of the Republic of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
She congratulated Maestro Plamen Kartaloff for the challenge of presenting the most popular opera from Wagner's tetralogy "Der Ring des Nibelungen" for the first time to the audience in Skopje.
In front of him Siljanovska-Davkova stressed the importance of cultural diplomacy.
"I have always believed that cultural diplomacy is much more powerful than traditional diplomacy. 5 hours of fantastic performance, I shared with the whole audience. I don't think I've ever seen anything more perfect. The conductor, the director, the soloists, the set design. It really gave me the feeling that the impossible was possible. You all saw it. Not only me! I have tears in my eyes and I think the whole audience reacted like that. Thank you again. I knew Wagner was dramatic, heavy, mysterious, but that he could convey himself in such a way I really never dreamed. Once again, thank you and I repeat that what music and culture can do, no one can," said RNM President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.
