“Falstaff returns to the Sofia Opera stage after a long absence. The premiere will take place on the 27th of February and the following performances: on the 28th of February and on the 1st and 2nd of March.

Verdi’s final masterpiece will be set by an Italian team. Marco Gandini will take on the director’s role; the audience already knows him well from the first Bulgarian production of “Medea” by Cherubini the previous year which Gandini first set on the Sofia Opera stage, and later: in Belogradchik. Scenography will be handled by Italo Grassi who has crafted more than a hundred and fifty (mainly) opera, ballet and musical decors. His works have won awards and are used in the most famous theaters in Italy and around the world as well. Costumes are helmed by Anna Biagiotti who has been the director of the Rome Opera’s tailor studios for more than thirty years. She has set multiple productions of “Falstaff” in Italy and all around the world including one in collaboration with Marco Gandini.

The premiere performances will take place on the 27th and 28th of February and on the 1st and 2nd of March. We’re expecting you!
