“My entire life is connected to this theater, including the unconscious part of it because I’ve had lunch at the Opera cafeteria while my mother Valeri Popova was rehearsing. I performed my first major roles here”, Alexandrina Pendachanska says. From her seventy roles, she points out Pamina in “The Magic Flute” by Mozart, Gilda in “Rigoletto”, Violeta in “La Traviata” and Elisabeth in “Don Carlos” by Verdi, “Tosca” by Puccini”, Santuzza in “Cavalleria Rusticana” by Mascagni.
On the 10th of January, in front of an adoring audience, she will debut as Turandot.
Alexandrina is an honorary member of the Sofia Opera. She has been nominated for a “Grammy” three times; she is the bearer of the “BBC Music Magazine”, “Diapason d’Or” prizes, the “Zlaten vek” necklace bestowed by the Ministry of culture, the “Crystal Necklace” of the Bulgarian music and dance creators Union, the “Apolon Toksoforos” by the “Apollonia” foundation etc.
