“The Wagner festival became the Sofia Opera brand in a natural way and attracts audiences from all over the world”, acad. Plamen Kartaloff, director of the Sofia Opera and Ballet said on the “Tazi sutrin” show.

In the summer of 2025, the traditional Sofia Opera and Ballet Wagner festival will start off with the premiere of Tannhäuser: one of Wagner’s most performed works, and will continue with another performance of the entire “Der Ring des Nibelungen” cycle.

Earlier, in April, the Sofia Opera will set one of Wagner’s works for the first time in Italy. “Die Walküre” will be performed on the stage of the “Giuseppe Verdi” opera theater in Salerno where Daniel Oren is the chief conductor.

As per tradition, the Sofia Opera and Ballet summer season takes places on several summer stages which gives broad access to viewers from Bulgaria and abroad, with new horizons for attracting audiences with various tastes in opera, ballet and musicals being discovered.
