Sofia, 19-05-2019 | The Director of the Sofia Opera – Acad. Plamen Kartaloff, persuaded the legendary tenor José Carreras to hold a master class with Bulgarian talents in Sofia.
A success for the management of our first opera theatre which traces the road for the official start of an Opera studio of the National Opera. After the successful vocal classes in Bel canto singing, held by Raina Kabaivanska, Krassimira Stoyanova and Anna Tomowa-Sintow.
The opera studios to the world opera theatres support the young singers to start a career, providing the best opera aces – world recognized singers, leading conductors, leading stage directors, who work for the improvement and the qualification of the young hopes.
Then which, if not the National opera theatre, is the institution, which would accept this mission for its professional duty. The team of the Opera in Sofia itself has the capacity, the contacts and the conquered prestige to welcome on its territory young artists from the genre, in order to train them, to provide them practice. At that in all fields and professions of operatic art – stage directors, assistant stage directors, set designers, conductors, singers, ballet dancers, dramaturges, musicologists.
This would be the new direction of the varied development and ascent of the Sofia Opera, which with certitude will bring a perspective and will educate new personnel, including in respect of the exchange between the cultural institutions from all over the world.
José Carreras’ opera class in Sofia will be held in the beginning of next music season.
At the end of January, Maestro Carreras usually holds the next edition of his International master class at the Rossini Conservatory of Music in Pesaro, Italy, together with his friend of many years and pianist Lorenzo Bavaj. The third edition was the past year. The class finished with a concert in the Pedrotti Auditorium, where were held all classes. José Carreras admitted that he was always happy, when he came back to Pesaro.
From the 22 students from 10 different countries which passed through a preliminary audition – selection, 11 were admitted to the concert. Among them prevailed sopranos and tenors, but there were two mezzo-sopranos too.
This year, the master class was held in the period 21-26 January. José Carreras transferred this year too all the experience he had gathered during his 50 years long experience to singers from the USA to the Far East. The number of the young talents was 25, and the admitted to the concert – again 11 persons. They presented themselves with arias by Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Puccini, Verdi.
José Carreras is adored by the citizens of Pesaro also because of his generosity and loyalty. Traditionally, on 12 October the Maestro comes back there for concerts which mark the anniversary of another friend and colleague of his – the unforgettable Luciano Pavarotti. <The News BG Reporter>
