In the late afternoon hours on Sunday, 20.01.2019, at the Sofia MEGAMALL at the Zapaden Park Metrostation, the inspired youth artistic team of the Sofia Opera and Ballet performed a unique spectacle for children and babies!
In the ground floor hall all more than 300 seats were occupied and continuously were coming in new spectators – entire families, accompanied by their charming kids. They all had a wonderful view to the mounted and decorated for the occasion stage and the beautiful view was providently enriched with suitable multicolour decoration, dozens of balloons, beautiful props for children and favourite toys.
Indeed, one had to be present on the spot, in order to feel the unparalleled impact of the interesting programme, suitable for the babies at the age of 0 to 3, as well as for the bigger children – at the age of 3 to 10.
The young performers were fully devoted in the songs, which enchanted the little spectators; they were dancing on the stage and going repeatedly down among the audience, taking on their hands the infant boys and girls, attracting this way also the bigger children and so everybody took part directly in these spontaneous improvisations.
Just after the first musical and dance performances, the kiddies at the age of one or two, just having begun to walk, directed themselves on their own closer to the stage and with irresistible desire were striving to imitate the movements and the pantomime of the young artists. The selected melodies and texts were spontaneously taken up by the youngest and the bigger; the festive atmosphere reached its culminations, when the artists and the children were giving up themselves to the rhythmical conquering round dance, or were dashing freely into the next waltz.
For many of the adolescents this will be a very remarkable day, when they for the first time had taken part in a spectacle on stage and some of them unexpectedly talentedly demonstrated emotionally a feeling of rhythm, singing and wonderful dances.
At the end of the spectacle, artists and audience mingled in an amusing play of separation, whereby they all promised to each other to take again part in such a magical meeting, in which art overcomes all ages. The adults went back to their childhood years, and the little spectators still more persistently will ask their parents to take them to the spectacles for children at the Sofia Opera, as well as to visit the guest-performances at other places.
After this successful and happy initiative, the management of MEGAMALL invited the team of our first opera theatre to give again a similar concert in this pleasant and communicative corner of the spacious trade centre.

We managed to take a video of his first attempts to dance and make synchronous movements with the young performers. We shall do our best to be more often at your spectacles! Draganovi family: - We are happy that we heard in time about this wonderful spectacle! Our 2-year old Yana has never demonstrated such courage and desire to be on the stage itself! These amazing bigger girls and boys as if enchanted her and she even managed to repeat many of the dance rhythms with them! She didn’t get scared also from the fact, that two or three times she lost her balance and she fell down. But we rose her on her feet again and you see that even in this moment she is trying to continue her participation in this charming performance. To you we will owe recognition, if in future she would reveal herself as an artist!
Stefka Nikolova: - My 5-year old son Vasko is still captivated by the experienced! You see, he doesn't want at all to leave and now I will fulfil his wish to take picture with your entire team. It is more than praiseworthy that Maestro Kartaloff with these productions for children is really creating your future audience! With my husband we do all possible to take Vasko to more of your spectacles and this is why we follow regularly the programme of the Opera.
Velinovi family: - We are here with our Lili at the age of 3 and Martin at the age of 6. What a chance really that we happened to be at this performance! You fascinated our children! They are so happy that they were involved in the circle of the participants in the first dances, and after that in the mutual waltz with the audience! Your programme is marvellous for these babies and for the bigger children! Here it is that today’s day is an occasion to be looking for you again and again at the Opera, where we shall try to watch the biggest part of the spectacles for children. We are especially impressed that besides your talented young artists, in this show took part also many technicians, artistic and administrative employees of the Sofia Opera, who with such an engagement and competently contributed to the magnificent performance! We are dreaming of new meetings with you!
The team of the Sofia Opera and Ballet is always ready to give spectacles for children at the invitation of different institutions, cultural houses and centres, medical and educational institutions. This is an important chance for many children from different ages to be reared with the magic and the desire for future realization in the field of great art! For the realization of this noble aim, the hand is already given!
