Only on 10 October this season at Sofia Opera and Ballet will come to life Gaetano Donizetti’s opera “L’elisir d’amore“.
Director of the production is Vera Nemirova – daughter of the opera director Evgeny Nemirov and the opera singer Sonya Nemirova. She is grand-daughter of the well-known Bulgarian writer from the 40-ies Dobri Nemirov. She graduated opera directing in Berlin. In 1998, she began an independent activity as director. She has worked in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria. She has produced namely this opera in Bonn.
“L’elisir d’amore” is a comic work, which tells the story of the Italian wretch and romantic in one over-satisfied society, explained Nemirova some time ago. This is the main character Nemorino. He falls in love with the rich Adina – owner of the SPA-centre, where he is cleaning the swimming pool. Nemorino is captivated by her, but he is a man “of a lower social class” and has no success. That is why he turns to Dr. Dulcamara, who gives him ordinary pure water and tells him, it was elixir of love.
