The Chinese ballet dancer Yue Shi will be guest-performer as Prince Désiré in "Sleeping Beauty" by Tchaikovsky at the Sofia Opera on 20 and 21 January, informed us from the theatre.
Yue Shi began studying ballet at the Liaoning Ballet School at the age of 10. Throughout his training, he has participated in many international ballet competitions and garnered several awards. After the Jackson International Ballet Competition, where Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet Artistic Director André Lewis was a member of the Jury, he was invited to join the Aspirant Program of the Ballet School. In 2015, Shi joined the company as an apprentice and since then he has danced in the role of the Prince in the "The Nutcracker" and in Pas de six in "Giselle".
At the Varna International Ballet Competition Yue Shi was awarded the Silver medal in senior age (2016) and the Golden medal in junior age (2014). He has high distinctions also from the international competitions in Jackson – the Jury Special Award (2014), Seoul – Golden medal, Teenager Group (2013), Moscow, Seoul and Beijing – Silver medal, Youth Group (2013 and 2012) and Osaka.
